THE CLIENT
About MiCambio
MiCambio is an app where users can secure a preferential exchange rate when convenient, and then choose to either perform the transaction physically at any of the 25 associated branches or online using their MiDinero MasterCard.
THE CHALLENGE
Dissecting the problem
Currency exchange operations involve a large number of rules, which represents the greatest challenge in this project since we wanted to achieve an app that would apply these rules but would not be cumbersome for the users. To overcome this, communication between the client and us was very important, as well as putting ourselves on the user’s side to simplify the flow.
We were lucky that Patricia Tilve, the Product Manager of MiCambio, blindly trusted us to develop and reach the current result.
OUR STRATEGY
Our approach
Development
We used the Scrum Framework using 2-week sprints, to build the product incrementally, and evolve it according to new insights we collected from users and cashiers. The first version was designed and released in only two months, with a team comprised of a Backend Developer, a Frontend Developer, a Designer, and the Product Owner represented by the customer. Other stakeholders were often invited to the Scrum ceremonies for feedback and business assessment. Concerning the development frameworks used, we used Ruby on Rails for building the product’s backend, and React Native for the frontend. A second version is currently under work.

Design Process
As a fundamental element of our approach to helping MiCambio, we developed a user journey map following usability and accessibility criteria. We were motivated to focus on every little detail, including trendy animation, to enhance user interaction substantially.
Branding
We chose a classic and simple visual language, with a combination of neutral colors. As a result, the overall brand and visual language convey seriousness and thus, confidence to the user.

THE RESULTS
Success comes in many forms
We delivered a successful app, on time, and on budget. The client is content and moving forward with the development of new features.
“We made a very good team, sharing ideas to achieve an excellent product. We feel comfortable with all members of the company, they are professional, responsible and hard-working. We are really satisfied!”
